Demetrius Johnson, Jr.

President and CEO, Founder






Since 2015, Demetrius Johnson, Jr., has served as the President and CEO, Founder of the HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF), an advocacy non-profit educational organization that supports the significance and raises funds for scholarships and services at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). He is the first President and CEO, as well as the founder of the organization since its inception.

Described as a highly visionary and passionate leader at heart, Demetrius is a strong advocate for HBCUs. His vision for HCF is to lead the organization in its continuous growth to existing as an essential tool for supporting students and higher education. His ultimate goal is to ensure that HBCUs remain the relevant institutions that they were created to be.

As a young leader and CEO of the organization, Demetrius is confident and dedicated to working and helping others. His will to share his love for HBCUs, and its history is more than you can imagine. His hopes to gain expertise by working with institutions executive officers, students, alumni, supporters, corporations, foundations, and other fellow support organizations in strengthening the success of HBCUs and MSIs. He also hopes to empower excellence in students as well as the Black community.

Demetrius has received numerous awards and recognition’s since his presidency at HCF; he was named HBCU Top 30, Under 30 by HBCU Buzz. He also served as a member of the Interim Local Coordinating Committee (ILCC) of CPG. Inc., which formed at Olive-Harvey College in Chicago, IL.

During his undergraduate studies, Demetrius served in various organizations and worked as a student coordinator in the dorm. In 2016, he was selected to attend a four-week study abroad program at the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaures in Toulouse, France. In 2017, along with his duties at President and CEO at HCF, he served in the role of Admissions Communications Specialist in the Office of Recruitment at Lincoln University – Missouri.

Demetrius is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
