CHICAGO, IL – Every year, on Tuesday after Cyber Monday the HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) participates in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that harness the collective power of individuals, communicates and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrates generosity worldwide.

Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and cause they support.

HCF, a non-profit based in Chicago that is mission to support the significance and campaign in raising funds for student scholarships and services at Historically Black Colleges and Universities has joined the global day in seeking your contributions in support of HBCU education and HBCU. HCF President and CEO Demetrius Johnson, Jr., invites you to support students, HBCU’s and HCF on this day through a statement below.

Leading up to #GivingTuesday, you can join the movement by posting a #Unselfie on social media or speak about why you support HCF as a HBCU supportive organization and using the campaign hashtag #HCFGivingTuesday. You may also share the #GivingTuesday flyers (pictured below).

There are also other ways that you can get involved to assist and support the mission of HCF. You may register to become a volunteer with HCF on the website and join the campaign for HBCU’s.


Higher education can be the debt of student in accomplishing their goals and dreams. In order to fulfill our mission at HCF and make a difference, campaign for student and HBCU’s is vital. We are inquiring your support and we hope that you consider HCF this #GivingTuesday.
