President Obama has called for a major increase in the number of college graduates to support American competitiveness globally. The HBCU Nation is an non-profit advocacy initiative founded in 2012, committed to answering that "call," by promoting Excellence, Innovation, and Sustainability of America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, through its soon to be announced "Boot On The Ground Campaign" which will be a collaborative effort enlisting volunteers consisting of students, administrators, faculty, alumni and family and friends towards improving the identity, visibility, and distinctive capabilities and overall competitiveness of HBCUs.
