CHICAGO, IL – The Howard University Club of Chicago (HUACC) will host its 6th Annual Reconnection of HBCU’s Softball Tournament on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Washington Park (located 5331 S. Martin Luther King Drive). The Tournament will begin at noon.
According to a article published by The Chicago Citizen last year, since the tournament’s inception five years ago as the brainchild of past HUAAC and current Chicago HBCU Alumni Alliance president, Danielle James, it has grown tremendously. “In 2011, we started out with the goal of uniting siloed groups of Historically Black College and University alumni under the common bond of fellowship, we only had two teams participating.” said James. For more information about registering a team, having a tent section or volunteering, email HUACCBison@gmail.com.
This year alumni teams include Howard University, Southern University and A&M College, FAMU, Jackson State University, Hampton University, Langston University, Grambling University, Clark Atlanta, Texas Southern and Spelman/Morehouse. This year the HBCU Campaign Fund organization will have a tent section.
“The Howard University Alumni Club of Chicago looks forward to an opportunity to dig in our cleats and fellowship with Howard University alumni and other local alumni chapters, our missions of solidarity among historically black colleges and universities, their alumni and the City of Chicago,” James added.
