HBCU Campaign Fund explores Huston-Tillotson University & Homecoming 2016

This past Saturday, HBCU Campaign Fund’s President & CEO Demetrius Johnson Jr., visit Austin, Texas to explore Huston-Tillotson University, which is a private HBCU (historically black college and university) located in Austin, Texas. A private institution, Huston-Tillotson (HT) is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund.

As HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) currently adventures and works to seek out in building relationships and partnering with HBCUs in becoming a premier non-profit supportive organization for HBCUs, HCF is warmly open in visiting campuses to meet with institution chancellors and presidents, faculty and staff to gain expertise advice and ways in better serving its HBCU institution. HCF offers initiatives in assisting HBCUs in recruitment, fundraising, and promotion.

HCF’s President & CEO Demetrius Johnson Jr. met with Huston-Tillotson’s President & CEO Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, (pictured on the right), Asia Haney (HT alum and social media/admissions counselor) as well as a host of HT students and alumni (pictured below). Mr. Johnson also experienced Austin’s African-American Heritage Community Festival, which was hosted on campus along with Homecoming 2016 festivities.

At 140-years old, Huston-Tillotson University is the oldest institution of higher learning in Austin. However, as the second female president in Huston-Tillotson University EF62B8BE-4984-4CFA-B3B4-263EDE8673E6.png_zpsawkpytcm(1)140-year history, Dr. Burnette hard-working motive is moving HT from good to great in terms to leading HT into the direction that it is needed to be. She is very warmly open as university president to students, alumni, the community and supporters of HT and the Austin area. HBCUs were founded to serve a population that is under serve which Dr. Burnette makes sure at HT that the student population is learning in a environment where they are receiving a high-quality education that is nurturing. So that students are well prepared for their desire destiny after college.

HCF president plans to work with Dr. Burnette in arranging a partnership to assisting in promoting the name of HT and its features as an HBCU, recruitment, and fundraising in moving its campus to the NEXT level in serving academic excellence for centuries and more centuries to come. Mr. Johnson is also working in stepping up HCF’s financial support so that the organization can advance in helping HBCUs such as HT and the schooling of potential and current students who chooses HBCU.

HCF mission is to serve as advocates for students and HBCUs, to support the significance and campaign to raise funds in providing assistance to HBCUs. HCF plans to continue its hard-working mission in supporting students as well as America’s HBCUs in keeping them alive to serving academic excellence to the African-American community and a diverse population as well.
